Itinerary

 

Day 1 Arrive Tanzania – Moshi

  • Upon arrival, at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
  • Meet with our airport rep/driver who will transfer you to Chanya Lodge for an overnight stay.
  • Freshen up after your journey to Tanzania.
  • Unwind in the lush gardens before enjoying a delicious meal.
  • Enjoying the remarkable view of Mount Kilimanjaro by walking in the tropical garden.
  • Overnight Chanya Lodge or Kibo Palace hotel (with bed and breakfast included)

 Day 2 Moshi – Marangu Park Gate – Mandara Hut

  • Leave Moshi town and drive for about 45 minutes to Marangu Gate on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro.
  • Begin hiking through the rainforest from the park gate to Mandara Hut.
  • Stop halfway for lunch.
  • Side trip to Maundi Crater (about 15 minutes away).
  • See the surroundings as well as views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania.

Day 3 Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut

  • Breakfast.
  • Pack for the next leg.
  • Hike to Horombo Huts.
  • Stop halfway for lunch.
  • Arrive Horombo Huts.
  • Unpack and prepare for dinner.

 Day 4 Horombo Hut

  • Extra day at Horombo for acclimatization.
  • Will walk around the hut up to the Mawenzi turn hut.
  • Overnight at Horombo Hut.

 Day 5 Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut

  • Breakfast.
  • Pack and begin the hike to Kibo Hut.
  • First half: hike traverses the upper heath land.

Second half: crosses the vast saddle that connects Mawenzi and Kibo (the saddle is an alpine desert that resembles a lunar landscape) be careful to notice signs of altitude sickness.

  • No running water at Kibo Huts.

 Day 6 Kibo Hut – Summit – Horombo Hut

  • Wake at around midnight to a light breakfast.
  • Prepare for the summit ascent.
  • Hike during early morning before dawn and reach Uhuru Peak around sunrise.
  • Leave at about 1:00am and reach Gilman’s Point about 7:00am.
  • Another 2 hours of hiking to Uhuru Peak, the summit.
  • Descend back to Kibo Hut.
  • Collect your things and cross the saddle again at Horombo Hut.
  • Spend the night at Horombo Hut.
  • Enjoy dinner and get some well-deserved sleep.

Day 7 Horombo Hut – Marangu Park gate – Moshi

  • Wake as usual.
  • Pack and descend to Mandara Hut.
  • Lunch and continue to the park gate.
  • Transport back to Moshi.
  • Overnight in Chanya Lodge or Kibo Palace hotel.

(Those climbers who reached Stella point (5685m) are issued with green certificates and those who reached Uhuru Peak (5895m) receive gold certificates)

 Day 8 Ngorongoro Crater (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

  • After an early breakfast, pack your bags.
  • Depart to Ngorongoro Crater.
  • Enjoy the spectacular scenery and game viewing.
  • Afternoon drive to your lodge for an overnight stay.
  • Overnight with the Conservation area.

Highlight:

. A natural wonder of the world and is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

. The crater is packed with wildlife, including the big 5.

. Best place to see black rhino in Tanzania as well as prides of lion that include black-mane males.

. Flamingos and a variety of other water birds around the soda lake on the crater floor.

Day 9 – Day 10 Serengeti (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

  • Head out after early breakfast.
  • Drive to the Endless-plain of Serengeti.
  • A welcome table will be set up either at the entrance point, Naabi gate or a short distance away, with tea and coffee.
  • After hot/cold drinks and snacks, experience the first taste of the wild and the endless plain of Serengeti.
  • Enjoy a game drive an route to your lodge.
  • Dinner.
  • Overnight Serengeti.

. Visit the Serengeti Museum (optional)

. Serengeti – Host the annual migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and numerous other species of animals indigenous to the area.

. Entering the Big cat area of Tanzania.

. More than 30 species of large herbivores and nearly 500 species of birds.

  • Spending two nights in the endless plain of Serengeti with game drives.
  • Depending on your preference, there are a couple of options with regards to how your day is structured in the Serengeti.

Option 1:

. start your day with an early morning balloon excursion followed with picnic breakfast at the end.

Option 2:

. break camp early and head out with a picnic breakfast on a morning game drive, returning to camp in time for lunch.

  • Alternatively, you can eat breakfast in camp and head out with a picnic lunch on an afternoon game drive, returning in the mid-afternoon.
  • In the evening, transfer back to the lodge for dinner.
  • Overnight stay.

Day 11 Ngorongoro Crater (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

  • Enjoy half-day game driver in Ndutu area.
  • Explore the range of different habitats (swamps, woodland, soda lakes and the world-famous Serengeti/Ngorongoro Conservation area short grass plains).
  • Overnight Karatu/Ngorongoro Conservation area.

Day 12 Departure (Breakfast)

  • After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for departure.

 Tanzania Travel Requirements:

  • Single entry visa costs US 50 per person. Can either process your visa on arrival, or online through https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/ . You will receive a notification via email once the payment is made. In case there is a lag time on receiving the Visa, the Pain invoice can be produced at Immigration on arrival and it will get approved there and then.
  • Traveler passport copy must be valid 6 months prior to the date of arrival with at least two blank pages.
  • A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travelers aged 1 year or over arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission.
  • For client coming from the US, Europe or UK, no need the Yellow Fever Vaccination.
