Overview
This 11-day tour of New Zealand takes you through the country’s most iconic destinations, starting with Auckland, where you can explore optional attractions like the Sky Tower and Harbour Dinner Cruise. From Auckland, travel to the Hobbiton Movie Set, followed by a visit to Rotorua to experience its geothermal wonders and cultural performances. The tour continues with a flight to Christchurch, before embarking on the scenic Tranz Alpine train journey to Greymouth and Punakaiki. The following days include visits to Franz Josef Glacier, the vibrant Queenstown, and Milford Sound, where you’ll enjoy a memorable cruise through its breathtaking fjords.
The tour also takes you through some of the country’s most stunning landscapes, including the journey to Mt. Cook and Tekapo, with picturesque stops along the way. Day 1: Arrive Auckland
- Arrive in Auckland.
- Transfer to accommodation for check in.
- Overnight in Auckland.
Day 2: Auckland – Hobbiton – Rotorua
- Tour to the rolling green hills to the iconic Hobbiton Movie Set.
- After exploring Hobbiton, lunch in the Party Marquee.
- Continue to Rotorua.
Day 3: Rotorua
- Transported to Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland for a two-hour visit.
- In the evening, transported to Te Puia including a buffet dinner and cultural performance.
- The evening culminates with hot chocolate and pudding on the geyser terrace.
- Overnight Rotorua
Day 4: Rotorua – Christchurch (Flight not included)
- Depart on your domestic flight to Christchurch (airfare not included).
- Overnight in Christchurch.
Day 5: Christchurch – Greymouth
- Transported to the Christchurch Railway Station for the Tranz Alpine train crossing the vast expanses of the Canterbury Plains.
- On arrival in Greymouth, transferred to the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes for a short self-guided walk.
- Transfer to accommodation.
- Overnight in Greymouth.
Day 6: Greymouth – Franz Josef
- This morning, transferred to Shantytown Heritage Park.
- Transfer to Glacier Country.
- Overnight in Franz Josed
Day 7: Franz Josef – Queenstown
- Transfer through wilderness towns, waterfalls, and river scenery on the journey to Queenstown.
- Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 8: Queenstown
- Free day to add some of the endless optional activities on offer.
- Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 9: Queenstown – Milford Sound – Queenstown
- Today’s stunning tour takes you past mirror lakes and waterfalls into Milford Sound.
- On arrival, board your vessel for a cruise of the fiord surrounded by towering mountains and cliffs.
- After a big day out, return to downtown Queenstown.
- Lunch is included.
- Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 10: Queenstown – Mt Cook / Tekapo – Christchurch
- Departs Queenstown through the stunning Kawarau Gorge and fruit and wine growing region of Cromwell.
- Follows a beautiful Lake Dunstan and meanders through the dramatic Lindis Pass.
- Travel the vast plains of the Mackenzie district, alongside magnificent turquoise blue lakes, framed by Aoraki Mt Cook and the spectacular Southern Alps to Mt Cook Village where you have some free time.
- Make a stop close to the popular Church of the Good Shepherd before continuing through the amazing countryside to Christchurch.
- Overnight in Christchurch.
Day 11: Depart Christchurch
- Transfer to airport for departure.
