Overview
This 6-day tour of southern Laos begins in the capital, Vientiane, where you’ll explore key attractions such as Wat Sisaket, That Luang Stupa, and the Buddha Park, home to hundreds of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures. You’ll also enjoy the sunset over the Mekong River and have the chance to explore the local Night Market. Afterward, travel to Pakse, where you’ll visit the Bolaven Plateau, including the stunning Tad Fane Waterfall and local ethnic villages.
The tour continues with a visit to the UNESCO-listed Wat Phou Temple and the picturesque 4000 Islands region, including Khong and Khone Islands. Here, you’ll explore the countryside by boat and bicycle, discovering French-era ruins and the powerful Khone Phapheng Waterfall. The trip concludes with leisure time in Khong Island before returning to Pakse for your departure. This journey offers a blend of cultural heritage, natural beauty, and relaxation in one of Southeast Asia’s most serene regions.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Vientiane
- Upon arrival, meet with our representative.
- Transfer to hotel for check in.
- Free at leisure, rest of day on your own.
- Overnight in Vientiane.
Day 2: Vientiane – City Tour & Buddha Park (Breakfast)
- After breakfast, visit Wat Sisaket (the city’s oldest temple)
- On the way to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, stop to take a pictures of the Patuxay Monument.
- Afternoon, short drive out of the city to visit the Buddha Park.
- Return to the city and enjoy sunset on the Mekong River.
- Can explore the Street Night Market at Anouvong Park in the evening.
- Overnight in Vientiane.
Day 3: Vientiane – Fly to Pake (Domestic flight not included) – Tadlo – Pakse (Breakfast)
- Breakfast at hotel.
- Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Pakse.
- Upon arrival, our guide will meet you at the airport.
- Upon arrival, we’ll head for Salavan province via Tateng Village.
- You will make a stopover en route to observe the local’s making tea and coffee – have a cup of either before exploring the cultures and the way of life along the way to Bolaven Plateau Area.
- Visit Tad Fane waterfall and visit villages of Alak, Nga, Katu ethnic minority group.
- Return to the town in the late afternoon.
- If time permits, we can drive up Phou Salao to visit big Buddha at Wat Phonethong.
- Overnight in Pakse.
Day 4: Pakse – Wat Phou – Khong Island (Breakfast)
- After breakfast, leave Pakse and transfer to Champasak District.
- Visit the ruins of Wat Phou Temple Complex.
- We have time to explore these intriguing Khmer ruins, which are perched at the base of Mount Phu Kao.
- A festival of this site is held yearly during the full moon in February and attracts numerous pilgrims from all over southern Laos.
- Then continue your way to 4000 Island Region and Khong Island, which is quite relaxing in the day while pretty at night.
- Rest of the day and overnight stay in Khong Island.
Day 5: Khong Island – Khone Island & Surroundings (Breakfast)
- Following breakfast, enjoy a visit to the surrounding countryside and embark on a local boat tour to Don Khone, where we disembark and have the option of exploring the island by bicycle, which takes you to visit the remains of the French period and Liphi Waterfall or “The Corridor of the Devil”.
- We also have a chance to visit Don Det, a small Island nearby Don Khone.
- Return to the mainland at the fishing village of Ban Nakasang and drive further south to visit Khone Phapheng.
- Then, drive back to Khong Island for your overnight stay.
Day 6: Khong Island – Pakse – Departure (Breakfast)
- Breakfast at hotel.
- Free time till our guide meets you.
- Transfer to Pakse airport.
- Departure.
