Overview
This 7-day New Zealand tour begins in Auckland, where you’ll be transferred to your accommodation and can explore the city or enjoy an optional activity like visiting the Orbit Restaurant Sky Tower. The tour then takes you to Rotorua, where you’ll experience the iconic Hobbiton Movie Set, followed by a guided tour through Rotorua’s geothermal landscapes and a Maori cultural evening at Te Puia. The final leg of the journey includes a scenic drive from Queenstown to Christchurch, passing through breathtaking landscapes like the Kawarau Gorge, Lake Tekapo, and the Southern Alps. Along the way, you’ll visit iconic locations such as the Church of the Good Shepherd before concluding your trip in Christchurch with a private transfer to the airport. Day 1: Arrive Auckland
- On arrival you will be met and privately transferred to your accommodation.
- Home to sheltered, sparkling blue waters dotted with beautiful emerald islands, we recommend getting out on the water when you are here.
- Overnight in Auckland
Day 2: Auckland – Rotorua
- Today’s privately guided tour takes you through lush farmland, to the iconic Hobbiton Movie Set, one of New Zealand’s ‘must-see’ destinations.
- Join a share tour and see where the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies were filmed as your tour guide shares behind-the-scenes tales.
- After exploring Hobbiton, tuck into a delicious buffet lunch served in the Party Marquee before continuing on to Rotorua.
- Overnight in Rotorua.
Day 3: Rotorua
- Enjoy a half day tour this morning exploring all the highlights for Rotorua with your private driver guide.
- This afternoon you will be transport to Te Puia for a guided tour through the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, the Kiwi Conservation Centre and the geothermal valley.
- Then enjoy a Hangi Dinner overlooking the valley and geyser, followed by a 40 minute cultural performance.
- The evening culminates with hot chocolate and pudding on the geyser terrace.
- Duration 4.5hrs and overnight in Rotorua.
Day 4: Rotorua – Queenstown (Airfare not included)
- Today you will be transferred to Rotorua Airport for your domestic flight to Queenstown. (Airfare is NOT included).
- On arrival in Queenstown, you will be met and transferred to your accommodation.
- Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 5: Queenstown – Milford Sound – Queenstown
- Today’s privately guided tour takes you past mirror lakes and waterfalls into Milford Sound, carved by ice age glaciers and famously described as the eighth wonder of the world.
- On arrival, board your vessel for a shared cruise of the fiord surrounded by towering mountains and cliffs that plunge into the sea.
- Feel the refreshing spray of a waterfall as you cruise close to sheer rock faces before returning to shore.
- After a big day out, reflect on memories of a lifetime on your coach return to downtown Queenstown.
- Hot buffet lunch is included.
- Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 6: Queenstown – Mt Cook / Tekapo – Christchurch
- Depart Queenstown with your driver guide passing through the stunning Kawarau Gorge, fruit and wine growing region of Cromwell, following beautiful Lake Dunstan and through the dramatic Lindis Pass.
- Travel alongside magnificent turquoise blue lakes and the spectacular Southern Alps to Mt Cook Village.
- Visit Lake Tekapo, home to the popular Church of the Good Shepherd, before continuing through the amazing countryside to Christchurch.
- Overnight in Christchurch.
Day 7: Depart Christchurch
- Arrangements conclude today with a private transfer to the airport.
